DODD'S NARROWS July 25th, 2008
Leaving Newcastle Island and heading down Northumberland Channel we saw this huge paper mill, now we know where some of the logs and sawdust were going and coming from.
This is Dodd's Narrows, the currents in this passage can be as fast as 9knots, so boaters time it to go through at a slack current. They line up on each side of this passage and file through in a single line slowly, one must stay close to the middle, for the edges are shallow.
This barge was taking a whole building up the channel. (Ruxton passage)
