| DODD'S NARROWS | July 25th, 2008 | ||||||||||||||||
| Leaving Newcastle Island and heading down Northumberland Channel we saw this huge paper mill, now we know where some of the logs and sawdust were going and coming from. | |||||||||||||||||
| This is Dodd's Narrows, the currents in this passage can be as fast as 9knots, so boaters time it to go through at a slack current. They line up on each side of this passage and file through in a single line slowly, one must stay close to the middle, for the edges are shallow. | |||||||||||||||||
| This barge was taking a whole building up the channel. (Ruxton passage) | |||||||||||||||||
